My Top 10 Favourite Mega Evolutions (Legends Z-A)
With Pokémon: Legends Z-A 's release earlier this year, it was only inevitable I'd be making a list like this some time afterwards. One of the biggest selling points of Legends Z-A was the return of Mega Evolution, the gimmick having been absent in Pokémon games from Sword & Shield onwards. Unlike most players, I had no issue with Mega Evolution being gone because it meant we could try out new battle gimmicks, and much better ones in my opinion since Dynamaxing and Terasta

Media Essays: Pokémon Winds and Waves (First Impressions)
Man, what an anniversary celebration that was. GameFreak really pulled all the stops for this one with that presents last week that gave montages of all the various gens over the years and gave us a lot of new info regarding the games, both current and upcoming. But of course, the biggest one of the bunch was the reveal for the upcoming tenth generation of the franchise with the next mainline games being publicly announced. Ladies and gentlemen, Pokémon fans of all ages, it

Captain Conroy's Pixar 40th Anniversary Marathon (Week 9)
Written by Captain Conroy Week 1 , Week 2 , Week 3 , Week 4 , Week 5 , Week 6 , Week 7 and Week 8 here. This movie by far has to be the most Pixar in terms of its concept. Your emotions being little people inside your head that control you and everything you do? Oh yeah, that’s very Pixar. But naturally with every good concept has to come a good execution. And does this movie manage it? Oh yes, definitely. My joy is naturally going to be leading this review as I have a very

Media Essays: Pokémon 30th Anniversary Special Post (Part 2)
Continued from Part 1. Favourite Pokémon Battle: Ash vs. Paul (Sinnoh League) Sorry to be so obvious. XD But seriously, what else was I going to pick for my favourite Pokémon battle of all time? OK, some other battles out there like Ash vs. Leon, Ash vs. Paul (Lake Acuity) and Ash vs. Sawyer were worthy contenders, but this one was the only one I feel that was ever going to take the top spot. Ash vs. Paul at the Sinnoh League is pretty much everybody's favourite battle in the

Happy 30th Anniversary Pokémon! Flippin' heck...this franchise is officially THIRTY YEARS OLD now?! I remember being there when the franchise started! How far we've come since then... I mean you look at that poster and it looks absolutely ludicrous doesn’t it? An old man using ballons to make his house fly, looks like it may be a generic silly kids’ film right? Well, if anyone comes to that assumption, I am pleased to say that they are 100% wrong. Up is genuinely one of

The Media Man Reviews: Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2001)
Man am I going on a trip down memory lane today... Transformers: Robots in Disguise isn't just a Transformers cartoon. For me, it was THE Transformers cartoon. Many fans can cite any number of TF shows as the one that started it all for them. Some got started via the original G1 cartoon. Some got started via the Beast Wars era. Some got into the franchise thanks to The Unicron Trilogy. And nowadays, there are fans who became fans thanks to the Aligned continuity. And of c

Media Essays: Ratchet & Clank on TV
Written by The Wandering Fox Freddy: Wow, look at that! He’s gonna talk about something else that isn’t Sonic or Doctor Who! Having played Rift Apart after all these years (I only got the PS5 just this Christmas) I’ve felt my love for Ratchet and Clank come to life again! But yes, I the Wandering Fox actually love Ratchet and Clank

While revenge may be a dish best served cold, an animated movie – especially a really good one is a dish that’s best served hot. Ratatouille knew this very well indeed and certainly tried its hardest to cook up a very special dish for us all, and I’m not just talking about the titular ratatouille either. This whole movie is one heck of a main course with plenty of spices thrown in to keep

The Media Man Reviews: Transformers: Beast Wars
Now this review is going to be something special, especially if you're a Transformers fan. During the 90's, the Transformers franchise went in a bold new direction since toy sales were down at the time and their attempt to reboot the franchise with Generation 2 backfired spectacularly. And that was how we ended up with what is known as "The Beast Era" of Transformers in where the characters would transform into beasts instead of vehicles. Derived at the time, the Beast Era

People love superheroes so they would have had to go through a lot to ensure this one makes its mark and stands out above the rest as even back in 2004 when this movie came out, the superhero genre would have been one of those genres where just about anything you can think of would have been done at least somewhere before.
