Transformers is awesome, and the toys are especially awesome. You get your kid-friendly toys that are more simplistic, you get your more detailed toys that prioritize articulation and detail above being gimmicky and you get Transformers toys based on all corners of the franchise. From G1 to the Aligned continuity, there are toys for fans of all kinds and this current generation is the best time to be a collector in my eyes.
We've been getting some incredible Transformers toys from the 2010s onwards, and the War for Cybertron Trilogy toyline from 2018-2022 is one of the biggest examples of this. In that time period, we got three toylines all connected together to form one whole story with Siege depicting the characters on Cybertron, Earthrise bringing the characters to Earth and giving them more "Earth" based designs and Kingdom introducing the Maximals and Predacons to the mix. Such a concept was awesome for this toyline, but if you remember from my review of the Netflix War for Cybertron trilogy cartoon, it didn't exactly work well as a cartoon...
But anyways, I've talked about this franchise in quite a few posts, and I think now's the time I actually talked about the toys for a change. In this post, I'm counting down my Top 10 Favourite Toys from the War for Cybertron Trilogy toy line, basing my choices on the quality of the figures and my experiences with playing and collecting them. Also to make this list more my own and more personal to me, all pictures of the toys are pictures of the ones I own so you can get a better example of how good these toys are.
So without further ado, let's transform and roll out!
Number 10: Kingdom Voyager Class Inferno

This guy was a birthday present and a very good one at that.
Inferno was released during the Kingdom portion of the trilogy and I absolutely love having this guy in my collection. His design, like all the Transformers in these toylines, is an updated depiction of his classic G1 appearance from his large square chest to his red colour scheme and even the large block-like section behind his head and he's very articulated which helps for getting great poses out of him. He really does look like the heroic Autobot he's supposed to be and they really nailed his classic look here. He comes with a few accessories, namely the blaster rifle you see in the picture and a gun like accessory that you can peg into one of his hands after you fold it away.

As expected from this character, Inferno turns into a fire engine, and he looks really cool in that form too. The fire engine looks appropriately bulky as a fire engine should be and also has a working ladder that moves up and down and can even telescope in and out for him to reach higher up, just like a real fire engine. It's impressive they pulled that off for a Voyager-sized figure. TF toys these days can do a lot even with smaller size-classes. He's also pretty easy to transform too, so no frustrations when playing with him.
I have little complaints about Inferno here, he's just such a cool toy. He looks badass, he's very posable and he has play value in his vehicle mode too. Definitely a must-have for any Autobot army...
Number 9: Siege Leader Class Ultra Magnus

Leader Class Ultra Magnus had a few appearances in the trilogy. We had his appearance in the Siege toyline, which you see here, and he returned again in the Kingdom toyline with his mould updated a little to look more "Earth-based", whereas this figure is more Cybertronian based. The Siege figure also got a Netflix exclusive release in where he has the fading colours that represent the moment in the show where he got killed and faded to grey. This was the best one I could find and also the cheapest one I could get too, so I stuck with it.
Faded colours aside, I love this figure. Appearance wise, it's classic Ultra Magnus all the way down to the blue, white and red colours and the huge shoulder pads and he just looks great when displayed with the other Autobots. Displaying him with Optimus especially feels so right, y'know? He's also very articulated, but I do wish he didn't have those tiny thighs. I always feel small thighs on a TF figure ruin the look when posing their legs as they barely look articulated as a result. Still, he poses well and you can get some cool poses out of him. I also love how heavily armed he is too with at least three gun accessories and two shoulder-mounted missiles. Damn, talk about a walking artillery!

His vehicle mode is a car-transporter, as is typical with Ultra Magnus, and as this is the Siege mould, it has a slightly more futuristic and sci-fi vibe to his design here. It looks robust and very powerful, and I love how you can display him with all his guns too so you get this ludicrously awesome image of a car-transporter armed to the teeth as if it's an army tank instead. But he's not the most fun to transform ever as it can be hard to remember where all the parts of his armour are supposed to go in order to get the rear section of the vehicle together. Going from vehicle to robot is always fun though, especially when you clamp all the armour pieces around Magnus's body to get his classic appearance. You can even display him in robot mode without the armour, but he just looks like a white Optimus Prime in that form, so I don't really bother.
It may have a couple of problems, but nothing that stops Ultra Magnus from being one of my favourite toys in my collection. He looks awesome, it's fun putting his armour up when going into robot mode and I love how he comes with so many weapons. Definitely a toy worthy of the "Ultra" part of Magnus's name...
Number 8: Siege Voyager Class Apeface and Earthrise Voyager Class Snapdragon

Based on more obscure characters in the franchise, Apeface and Snapdragon are triple-changers that have a vehicle and a beast mode respectively and are also part of the Headmaster gimmick in where their heads can transform into tiny robots to store in their vehicle modes or attach to their robot bodies as their heads.
I can't pick a favourite out of either of them as I think they're both cool toys, so I put them together as a tie. Besides, they're actually depicted as a duo, so why not have them together as a duo? I like how they have that similar white, black and purple colour scheme to further reference how they're a duo, but you can still easily tell them apart with their designs and how their colours are balanced out with Apeface having some red on him while Snapdragon has yellow and blue on him. Their robot modes look stocky and powerful, befitting a pair of Decepticon grunts, and they carry their own gun accessories for battling with. I would've preferred it if Snapdragon didn't have those jet fins just hanging off his forearms like that and it would've been nice if the jet nose on Apceface better clipped into his back, but those things don't ruin the robot modes for me.

Their jet modes are awesome. I'm not sure if they're based on any particular jets, but I do know that they have a clear futuristic look to them and would definitely fit right into a sci-fi world. Their jet modes are pretty solid too with their robot and beast mode parts well hidden so you wouldn't really be able to tell if they could transform.

The beast modes on the other hand...leave a bit to be desired. It's clear they couldn't make them look as good as the jets, but I do like some clever design choices here like making Snapdragon's Headmaster partner transform into the lower half of his dragon mode's jaw. That's pretty nifty.
As is, I still love these two even if the beast modes aren't so good. They look great together, their jet modes are slick and dynamic and they're fun to display as a Decepticon duo ready for action. Worthy additions to my collection indeed...
Number 7: Earthrise Deluxe Class Wheeljack

Nothing says classic Transformer quite like Wheeljack, does it?
I've always loved Wheeljack's classic white colour scheme with green and red stripes and this toy captures the look perfectly. Everything about this design and how it looks just screams "Wheeljack" and I think it's one of the best depictions of the character's iconic G1 design in toy form. I can't really say what it is I love about this toy, it's just a great depiction of Wheeljack. I love how they recreated his iconic head design too with the ear pieces and mouth plate. He's very articulated, as is every toy in this toyline, and his large flat feet make it easy to pose him without him falling over, which is great for displaying. I'm not entirely sure what his accessory is supposed to be though. Is it a gun or some kind of gadget for tinkering with? I dunno.

Wheeljack wouldn't be Wheeljack without turning into a slick-as-hell sports car, and this toy captures that in spades. The streamlines proportions, stripe deco and spoiler give this car a sporty, speedy appearance that makes it look as if Wheeljack could outrun many Decepticons trying to chase him down and the 638 numbers on the side make him look like a race car, which further enhances the speedy vibes his car mode gives. I wonder who'd win in a race with him, Bumblebee and Sideswipe... Curiously enough, 638 wasn't a number his original toys had, so I wonder why they changed it for this one?
Regardless of the number choices, Wheeljack more than deserves a spot on this list for being a fantastic toy that is well-articulated, accurate to his classic design and a load of fun to transform and play around with be it vehicle or robot mode. I just hope this toy won't explode in my hands like his inventions do!
Number 6: Kingdom Voyager Class Cyclonus

Like Inferno, this is one of the few non-Beast Wars characters to be released in the Kingdom toyline and in the Legacy toyline, this mould would do on to be used to make Metalhawk, which I also have. As Cyclonus, this mould is just brilliant.
The figure captures Cyclonus's classic G1 design to a tee, complete with the large bunny ears...I mean twin horns and the purple colour scheme. He looks very clean in robot mode too with very little vehicle kibble on him anywhere, thus making it seem like he doesn't even transform, yet he still does. I'd say the jet wings on his arms and behind his shoulders are the only things that confirm he does transform. He's also very well articulated too and while his feet may seem small, he still stands well on his own. His only accessory is a silver gun which he can use in both modes.

Speaking of, here's his jet mode. The best thing about this toy for me is the insanely fun and clever way this guy transforms. See that large nose cone? It actually folds up inside the robot mode's torso and stores away as easy as that! You'd never be able to tell just by looking at it, but I can assure you, it really does work like that. The designers who make these toys are so clever, I swear. I love the futuristic design of the jet and how it has a somewhat Star Wars-like vibe to it. I could so imagine one of the Republic Senators flying this thing, couldn't you? Then again, Cyclonus is a Decepticon so maybe a Separatist would fly him instead...
Cyclonus is an amazing figure all-in-all. The design is spot on, the jet mode is dynamic, the transformation is clever and fun and he looks great when on display, especially if you display him next to Galvatron. And speaking of Galvatron...
Number 5: Siege Voyager Class Megatron

Here's what your master was before he became Galvatron Cyclonus.
I do have both Megatron and Galvatron, and both are great toys, but I just like Megatron's toy more. Maybe it's because I'm a little more biased towards Megatron as he's iconic and thus I tend to play with him more?
Anyway, this is a great modern depiction of the classic G1 Megatron design. For obvious reasons, he doesn't turn into a gun anymore and I think that's for the best as it allows for a better looking toy that doesn't have to accommodate how tricky it would be to even turn him into a gun in the first place. And yet he still maintains that classic Megatron appearance from the grey, red and black colour scheme to his trademark "bucket head" and his tough looking design that makes him look like a warrior that's seen plenty of battle. It's easy to believe this is the bot leading the Decepticons with a design like this. He's well articulated, though his heel spurs are pretty weak so he tends to lean back a bit, and he's armed to the teeth with his iconic Fusion Cannon and a huge beefy sword that looks like could split an Autobot in two with a single swipe. I especially love posing him with the sword in his hand, it looks so cool!

As mentioned earlier, he obviously doesn't turn into a gun anymore and instead turns into a tank. The tank itself is robust and looks well-armoured, which further fits his mighty appearance and I love how the tank turret can still turn when he's in vehicle mode. It's not easy getting a tank Transformer and still being able to make the turret turn, but this toy managed it. The sword also forms the tank's gun, which is really clever of the designs to incorporate that into the toy.
What else needs to be said other than this is a toy that does the mighty Megatron justice? It captures his iconic design flawlessly, it's fun to play with and has some clever features. All hail this Megatron toy!
Number 4: Siege Leader Class Astrotrain

I remember searching for a while to finally get this toy and it took me until the post-Christmas season last year to FINALLY get him. Was it worth it? Absolutely!
Astrotrain is an awesome toy from top to bottom and I'm proud to own this guy in my collection. I love his dark grey and purple colour scheme and how he looks stocky and powerful, which he should do given he's one of the largest Decepticons on Megatron's side. Weirdly enough, he's pretty small despite supposedly being a Leader Class figure. Size wise, he's closer to a Voyager and it feels like he's only a "Leader Class" figure because of all his accessories jacking up his price of value. Still, he's not puny by any means. He's very posable and looks great when displayed alongside his fellow Decepticons. The large shuttle wings on his back I feel give him a great silhouette and also make him look more imposing.

As is tradition with Astrotrain, he's also a triple-changer with his iconic steam train...

...and space shuttle modes. I mean, he's called "Astrotrain" for a reason guys. =P
Both modes look pretty good with the train being my personal favourite of the two. I love how it resembles a steam locomotive in particular, yet still has a futuristic look to it, as if it's a steam train but designed by a cyberpunk artist if you know what I mean. I love the accessories he comes with too, namely that carriage at the back of the train which carries a hell of a lot of guns he can use and can also transform into a launch pad for his shuttle mode. While he may not be a Leader-sized figure, they really made him worth the price tag.
I'm glad I finally got this guy in my collection, cause he is such an awesome addition to my Decepticon army. With a cool design, nifty transformations, two slick vehicle modes and some great accessories, this is a must-have for any TF collector. Choo, choo, here comes the Astrotrain everybody!
Number 3: Earthrise Commander Class Sky Lynx

Ah, a truly magnificent entry for this countdown!
Seriously, what other word was I going to use to describe a Sky Lynx toy with? XD I remember buying this toy from my local GAME about a year or so before it closed down. Its price had been dropped at the time, so I got it cheap, lucky me. And needless to say, it's one of my favourite Transformers toys I've ever bought because of how freaking awesome it is!
First of all, that design is so unique amongst Transformers characters that it alone makes this toy worth the price you pay for it. Who couldn't love this thing? A shuttle that turns into a giant bird/dragon thing? That's stupidly awesome and I love it! I have a lot of fun posing him in his robot mode, especially if I have any of the smaller figures riding on his back. They made him decently articulated as well with even his neck being able to pose and his mouth being able to open. What's even cooler is that he comes with some flame accessories that you can attach onto the red "tongue" piece you can see in his mouth, so you can make it look as if he's shooting at the enemy. If Sky Lynx was a Pokémon, he'd easily be able to learn Flamethrower I imagine. XD

Naturally, he can turn into a shuttle as you see here. It looks very aerodynamic and sleek as a shuttle should do, and I love the cheeky reference to his boastful personality by the fact the world "Magnificence" is written on the fuselage, that's so funny. He can also split into two and the large blue piece can form into a launch pad for the shuttle to use, or the two vehicles can transform into beast forms with the shuttle being a bird and the launchpad being a lion-like creature. There is a reason he's called "Sky Lynx" after all. I personally prefer to display him whole rather than as the two separate beast modes.
This is a toy you'd be crazy not to own. The unique design of Sky Lynx alone makes this toy worth the purchase, but it's so fun for many other reasons too such as its articulation, its various modes and how sizable it is compared to other Transformers. Truly a magnificent toy to have as part of my collection indeed...
Number 2: Every single Beast Wars character from the Kingdom line

I can't pick just one Beast Wars characters from this toyline, they're all great! For the sake of ease, I'm just using pics of Primal and Megatron to represent the Beast Wars cast, but as I say, I couldn't pick a favourite figure of the bunch. I'd probably say my Top 5 would include Primal, Megatron, Dinobot, Terrorsaur and Tigertron, but even at that, I can't pick a Number 1 of the bunch, so I'm saying every Beast Wars character from the Kingdom line gets the Number 2 spot. Tarantulas, Inferno and Silverbolt are the exceptions since they appeared in the Legacy toylines later on.
The Beast Wars characters got a massive upgrade with the Kingdom portion of this trilogy toyline, and that's no exaggeration. Every one of these characters is given an updated look that still captures their original appearances flawlessly and is also able to make them transform from beast to robot and back and make both modes look great. Granted, some beast modes look better than others (Dinobot especially doesn't have the best beast mode ever), but most of them look really spot on with Primal and Megatron being two great examples of beast modes at their best. They look accurate and are still able to be well articulated even when in beast mode. The beast modes have as much effort put into them as the robot modes do with so much detailing on them from the fur on Primal's gorilla mode to the scales on Megatron's T-Rex form to the skin on Rhinox's rhino mode and the feathers on Airazor's falcon form.

The beast modes are great, but the robot modes are even better. While not all of them land (Scorponok is probably the worst of the bunch), most of them absolutely nail the designs and stay very true to the original Beast Wars characters we saw all the way back in the 90's. From the colours to their proportions and much more, they look like they leapt straight out of the old cartoon and into the modern day and I love them for that. It's made collecting every single new toy of the Beast Wars cast worth collecting and I'm glad that after the Kingdom toyline ended, we still got more characters getting new toys with Tarantulas, BW Inferno and Silverbolt getting new toys in the later Legacy toylines.
If I were to recommend any of the Beast Wars characters from the Kingdom toyline to buy, I'd recommend them all. They're all so great and worthy additions to any Transformers collection. With fantastic robot and beast modes and their classic designs still kept while also slightly updated, these toys really will revive the Beast Wars once again. Yeeeeees...
And my Number 1 Favourite Transformers: WFC Trilogy toy is: Siege Commander Class Jetfire

When I was making this list, I already knew this guy was going to be Number 1 before I even decided the order everything was going to be in.
Like Astrotrain, this was a toy I'd been after for a while and had a hard time finding one due to it either being hard to find or too expensive. Thankfully, I managed to save up a lot of money and I found one for as cheap as £89.99. And since then, I've forever been counting my blessings to own this toy.
Jetfire is by far my favourite toy of the WFC trilogy collection, and there's so many reasons as to why. His design is epic with that classic G1 Jetfire design that's also been given some modifications to make it more up-to-date and detailed. He has a very powerful appearance and like he could handle a bunch of Decepticons by himself. It helps he's friggin' HUGE as well due to being a Commander Class figure. Even a Leader Class figure looks small by comparison. He towers over everybody and it makes him look so imposing as a result. He's also very well articulated too and can stand perfectly well on his own in a variety of poses, even despite that chunky backpack he's carrying. He's even able to look up and down with his head, he's that poseable. He also has a faction switching gimmick in his regular robot mode. See the Autobot logo on his chest? That can swap around to a Decepticon logo, referencing the fact he was originally a Decepticon before becoming an Autobot. That's so neat of the designers to include that.

And then there are the accessories. He's armed to the teeth with a variety of guns at his disposal and he can look even more imposing and badass with an attachable face mask and chest armour that gives him a truly armoured warrior appearance. He also comes with blast effects so you can easily display him and make it look as if he's shooting his many guns at the enemy. Seriously, this Autobot is a one-bot wrecking crew all on his own with all them weapons! I notice the chest piece only has an Autobot logo on it. So I guess he's not supposed to have it as a Decepticon?

And of course, Jetfire isn't Jetfire without turning into a jet. The jet also looks very imposing with its huge, bulky appearance and yet it also looks like he could fly very quickly and perform a lot of aerodynamic stunts in that form. The large swing span and the long nose cone are my favourite aspects of the vehicle form for me. In this mode, he holds together well and is very solid, which makes it even better, and the blast effect accessories can be used to stimulate Jetfire taking off or flying in this mode. It's so cool how Transformers toys give you these kinds of accessories to further bring your displays to life. The toys I grew up collecting certainly didn't have those kinds of accessories.
I don't know what else to say here, Jetfire's toy is just one of the prizes of my collection for all the reasons I've given. Of all the toys I have from the WFC trilogy, this is my favourite one. I love the robot mode, I love the vehicle mode, I love his faction switching gimmick, I love his accessories, I love how big he is, I just love it in general! I'm so happy I got my own copy and I have it in my collection. Jetfire, my Number 1 Favourite WFC Trilogy Transformers toy...
And that's all I have for this list. I hope you enjoyed hearing me share my toy collector side a bit and I invite you all to share your thoughts down below. Which WFC Trilogy toys are YOUR favourites? Do tell me.
Next week, we're still talking about Transformers toys as I cover the Legacy toyline and my favourites from that one. See you then media fans!
Honourable Mentions:
Earthrise Voyager Class Optimus Prime
Siege Deluxe Class Spinister
Siege Leader Class Shockwave
Siege Voyager Class Soundwave
These are some cool toys to see. I stopped collecting toys long ago but I can see the appeal of these.
I myself was more a collector of the Beast Wars toys as a kid since that introduced me to the franchise. I remember having a lot of them.
Megatron def better suited for a tank then a gun. A gun or weapon transformer is best reserved for a cassette changer or a minicon, not a giant sized transformer.
Skylynx def is a unique transformer.
Well if there’s something I can say, Sky Lynx looks so awesome with his dragon mode! And I think Jetfire and Wheeljack are my favourites with Sky Lynx in the list, :)
